Bubble Shooter: Dream Zoo is a bubble-popping game. The player helps a girl in a mountaintop area pop hanging mixed-colored bubbles shaped like animal heads. They also collect stars and other winnings.
The game shows the girl standing next to a floating ring shooter that offers two swappable projectiles at a time. It limits the total number of projectiles the player can use per level, as tracked with a number at the center of the ring. If the player charges a bomb to the right of the shooter with successful hits, they receive a third swappable charged bomb projectile.
The player uses their shooter in various ways. When they shoot at two or more connected matching heads, they form a cluster that pops. Any non-matching heads connected to only the cluster fall in an avalanche and then disappear near the shooter. Charged bombs allow the player to pop any heads in a specific blast area. Heads also pop in scenarios that involve special bubbles.
Bubble Shooter: Dream Zoo offers several types of special bubbles. For example, it features energy bomb bubbles that cause blasts in chain reactions. Additionally, it provides rainbow bubbles that release energy that pops all heads that match a projectile. If the player pops enough bubbles by hitting either type with a charged bomb, they can sometimes generate an entirely new charged bomb with one strike.
